Ludovico Einaudi — Live in Berlin, Full Concert

Classical1 track Updated September 2026

Einaudi is the most-streamed living classical composer and the one classical critics are least comfortable with, which tells you most of what you need to know. It is minimalism with the difficulty removed — slow arpeggiated figures, diatonic harmony, very little development. Whether that is a limitation or the entire point depends on what you want it for, and for background listening it is unambiguously the point.

Worth noting this is Einaudi himself performing rather than one of the many cover-pianist collections that dominate search results for him; the phrasing is looser and the dynamics wider than the sanded-down studio versions. Register-wise it fills a gap here: the Chopin and Satie entries are quieter and stranger, this is warmer and far more direct. If a film has ever made you cry with a piano ostinato, it was probably this or something imitating it.
