The formula is well worn by now — café interior, rain on the window, instrumental jazz underneath — but the ratio here is better judged than most. The piano stays sparse rather than filling every bar, the rain sits low enough not to compete, and there is a light layer of room tone (cups, distant conversation) that keeps it from feeling like a music video with weather pasted on top.

Coffee shop ambience earns its reputation from a fairly well-replicated finding: moderate background noise, roughly the level of a busy café, tends to help with associative and creative work while hurting close analytical work. Which matches what most people notice informally — great for drafting, less great for debugging. Paris is set dressing, but set dressing does real work.
