Forest Sounds — Nature Ambient & Bird Songs
Forest soundscapes are some of the most studied audio environments in stress research. Birdsong specifically (the high-frequency, randomly-spaced kind found in healthy forests) has been linked to faster recovery from cognitive fatigue across multiple peer-reviewed studies. This recording is a long-form field capture rather than a layered composition, which is the format that tends to hold up best for repeated listening.
I run nature ambience instead of music when I'm doing anything that needs sustained focus and language processing. The brain handles non-linguistic environmental sound very differently from music, and it doesn't pull attention the way even instrumental music does. This one I've left running overnight more often than I should admit.
