S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 — Ambient Walking Through the Zone in 4K
GSC Game World shipped S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl in November 2024, fifteen years after the last entry and through a full-scale war that scattered the studio between Kyiv and Prague. This capture went up four days after release: nearly four hours of walking the whole map in Unreal Engine 5 with ray tracing on, region by region — Cordon, the cement works at Kopachi, Pripyat, the Red Forest, the reactor, the cooling towers, Zaton.
No shooting, no anomalies going off, just weather and footsteps and the wind the series has always run on. The older S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games are already on this site and the ambience is recognisably the same lineage, but UE5 gives it a scale the 2007 engine could not reach: fog sitting in a valley, light coming through a treeline that is genuinely moving. The Pripyat stretch runs about forty minutes and is the best of it.
