Stardew Valley — Relaxing Farm Music

Gaming1 track Updated August 2026

Eric Barone spent four and a half years building Stardew Valley alone — code, pixel art, and every note of the soundtrack — before releasing it in 2016. The music is written per season and per location, so the same farm sounds different in spring and in winter, and the instrumentation stays deliberately small: a few synth voices, some plucked strings, no orchestra anywhere near it. This compilation runs the calm end, opening with the Overture and "Cloud Country".

"Grandpa's Theme" is thirty seconds of music attached to a letter from a dead man telling you to quit your office job, and it lands far harder than it has any right to. That is the register of the whole score — small, plain, a little out of tune in places. It works for study for the same reason the game works: nothing in it is urgent, and it keeps going whether or not you are paying attention.
