Kowloon After Dark — Hong Kong Neon Streets

Kowloon has one of the highest population densities on earth, and the sound reflects it: signage cantilevered over the street, shops open to the pavement, extractor fans, mahjong tiles, minibuses. The famous neon is mostly gone now — a 2010 building-safety rule forced thousands of the old cantilevered signs down, and what remains is a fraction of the Blade Runner skyline everyone pictures — but the streets underneath them have not calmed down at all.

This is the busiest thing in the city collection here and the least suited to sleep. It works for the opposite reason the Venice and Montmartre walks do: sometimes you want proof that a great many people are awake and doing things. Pairs naturally with the Cyberpunk 2077 entry, which borrowed most of its visual language from exactly these streets.
