GTA 5 — Night Drive Through Los Santos

Grand Theft Auto V shipped in 2013 and Los Santos has been ageing in public ever since, kept current by mods. This run uses NaturalVision Evolved, the long-running graphics overhaul that rebuilds the lighting and weather until the city photographs like an actual night in Los Angeles; the car is modded too. No missions, no police, just a slow drive through downtown and out onto the freeway.

The soundtrack comes from the øneheart and reidenshi corner of ambient — "snowfall" and its relatives, slowed reverb-heavy loops that spread through TikTok around 2022 and then went everywhere. It is unembarrassed about being melancholy, and the uploader files the whole thing under "sad hours in GTA 5" without a trace of irony. An empty rendered city plus music written for staring out of windows turns out to be a reliable background for late work.
