ALIEN — Nostromo Ambience with a Roaming Xenomorph

The Nostromo is the towing vessel from Ridley Scott's Alien (1979), and its sound design is the reason half of science fiction still hums — Scott filled the ship with constant machine noise so that silence would land when it came. Alien: Isolation rebuilt that world in 2014 down to the CRT monitors and cassette-tape interfaces, and this three-hour capture works from the same palette: ventilation, distant hydraulics, footsteps that are not yours.

The title is not being cute — there is a xenomorph moving around in the mix, and it does occasionally get close. That makes this useless as sleep audio and unexpectedly good for concentration, because a low hum of dread keeps you from drifting off the task. I run it for editing passes. The Infrared filter turns the picture into something close to a motion-tracker readout, which is either perfect or too literal depending on the day.
