Nuclear Winter Ambience & Sounds
Post-apocalyptic ambience grew out of the Fallout and STALKER fandoms (and Metro 2033 readers) building atmospheric YouTube mixes for tabletop sessions and reading. Wind-and-blizzard recordings dominate the genre because they double as effective white noise: long, unbroken, no surprising peaks. This one runs as straight wind across a frozen landscape with occasional creaks and distant rumbles.
I run this when I want a post-apocalyptic mood without the implied loneliness getting too heavy. The trick is that there's no music here at all, just a soundscape, which makes it lighter on attention than scored ambient. Pairs unexpectedly well with reading sci-fi.
