Morrowind — Peaceful Solstheim Ambience
Jeremy Soule was 26 when he wrote the Morrowind score, and it is the leanest of his three Elder Scrolls soundtracks — smaller forces, more space, far less fanfare than Oblivion or Skyrim would later reach for. "Nerevar Rising" is the theme everyone knows, but the exploration cues are the substance: long, modal, harmonically ambiguous pieces suited to a landscape nobody designed to be welcoming.
Solstheim is the Bloodmoon expansion's island, which swaps Vvardenfell's ash wastes for pine forest and snow, so this runs colder than the base game. Three hours of walking across it with wind and footsteps layered over the score. If the Skyrim and Oblivion entries here feel a little too comfortable, Morrowind is the one that still sounds alien — which was always the point of it.
