Ａｅｓｔｈｅｔｉｃ Ｍｅｍｅｓ — Vaporwave Mix

Uploaded in December 2015, right at the point vaporwave spilled out of Tumblr into the wider internet. It opens with Macintosh Plus — "リサフランク420 / 現代のコンピュー" from Floral Shoppe, effectively the genre's national anthem, a Diana Ross track slowed and pitched down until it sounds like it is playing in an empty shopping centre after closing. Luxury Elite and ESPRIT follow it.

Vaporwave was always half joke and half genuine mood, and this mix keeps both halves — the wide-spaced typography, the Greek busts, the deliberate cheapness of it all. What survives ten years later is the sound: 80s corporate soft-pop and shopping-mall jazz dropped ten or fifteen percent in speed, which turns competent studio music into something faintly sad. Good for late work.
