Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered — Relaxing Music & Ambience
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered released in 2025 as a full Unreal Engine 5 visual upgrade of the 2006 original by Bethesda and Virtuos, preserving Jeremy Soule's full orchestral score from the original release intact. Soule's Oblivion music is more melodic and triumphant than his later work on Skyrim, with the iconic "Reign of the Septims" main theme and the warm exploration cues "Auriel's Ascension" and "Through the Valleys" becoming staples of fantasy game music.
Oblivion came out when I was a teenager and I sank an embarrassing number of hours into it. The remaster lets me revisit those landscapes with the original soundtrack intact, and Soule's exploration cues turn out to work better as standalone listening than they ever did in-game. Easier to focus on as music when you're not getting jumped by mudcrabs every twenty seconds.
