Diablo II: Resurrected OST — Dark Ambient & Gothic

Gaming1 track Updated May 2026

Matt Uelmen scored Diablo II in 2000, including the iconic 12-string acoustic "Tristram Theme" that loops over the town menu and remains one of the most recognizable cues in PC gaming. The score elsewhere leans heavily into dark ambient (the Mephisto theme is basically straight industrial drone) with regional motifs across each act, from the tribal percussion of Lut Gholein to the choral writing of Kurast. The 2021 Resurrected remaster preserved the original score with cleaner audio.

Tristram Theme is one of those tracks that gets passed around online by people who've never even played Diablo. The 12-string fingerpicking has been covered hundreds of times on YouTube alone. As a focus playlist this works less well than the dark ambient stuff, but as evening listening it's perfect.
